VERMONT ABENAKI ALLIANCE CALLS FOR TOLERANCE

Burlington, Vermont/Politon, Kdakinna (April 23, 2024) — The four Vermont state-recognized Abenaki tribes, together as the Vermont Abenaki Alliance, will hold a press conference on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 to call attention to our vibrant history, authenticity, and issue a call for tolerance and open exchange. Media representatives and fellow citizens are invited to join us at 9 am in the meeting room at Seventh Generation, 60 Lake St., Burlington, VT 05401.

The Chiefs will provide updates on their interactions with their Canadian counterparts and relatives, additional resources to educate the public on the Vermont Abenaki experience and struggle for recognition, and advocate for ongoing positive interactions between Vermont's state-recognized tribes and our neighbors.

Please come to hear from the four tribes speaking for themselves and promoting tolerance and respect for Indigenous cultures in Vermont and beyond. Time for questions will be available in closing. See resources listed on the next page.
